Musa (Moses) prayed to Allah to grant him fluency of speech, and grant his brother Haroon the gift of prophecy so that he may help him and be a deputy to him in all his tasks ahead. The Quran re-affirms that Haroon held no part in causing the Israelites to worship the golden calf. Rather, he was overpowered and was threatened with being killed by his people. When Musa (Moses) returned from the mount, he immediately blamed Haroon and seized him by his hair, but Haroon then gave his explanation, after which Musa (Moses) prayed to Allah to forgive both of them. [37:114] Again (of old) We bestowed Our favour on Musa (Moses) and Haroon, [37:115] And We delivered them and their people from (their) Great Calamity; [37:116] And We helped them, so they overcame (their troubles); [37:117] And We gave them the Book which helps to make things clear; [37:118] And We guided them to the Straight Way. [37:119] And We left (this blessing) for them among generations (to come) in later times: [37:120] "Peace and salutation to Musa (Moses) and Haroon!" [37:121] Thus indeed do We reward those who do right. [37:122] For they were two of our believing Servants.
