2. Prophet Idris (AS)
Allah has praised Idris (Enoch), describing him as being a prophet and truthful: Mention in the Book Quran Idris (Enoch).
Verily! He was a man of truth (and) a prophet. We raised him to a high station. (Quran 19: 56-57).
"And (mention) Ishmael, and Idris, and Dhul-Kifl. All were of the steadfast. And We brought them in unto Our mercy. Lo! they are among the righteous." (Qur'an 21:85-86)
Irdis (Enoch) was born and raised in Babylon following the teachings and religion of Prophet Adam (AS) and his son Seth (AS). Idris (Enoch) was the 5th generation of the Prophet Adam (AS). He called the people back to his forefathers religion, but only a few listened to him, while the majority turned away.
Prophet Idris (Enoch) and his followers left Babylon for Egypt. There he carried on his mission, calling people to what is just and fair, teaching them certain prayers and instructing them to fast on certain days and to give a portion of their wealth to the poor.He was the first of the Children of Adam to be given prophethood after Adam and Seth (AS). It is reported that he was the 1st to invent the basic form of writing.
He lived among his people for over 200 years and ruled them and during his reign there was peace and justice. According to Qasasul Ambia, he was a well-read man and Astrology was one of his prophetic miracles. He also started stitching of the clothes.
The Prophet Mohammed (SAW) met Idris during his visit to heavens..."The gate was opened, and when I went over the fourth heaven, there I saw Idris. Gabriel said (to me), 'This is Idris; pay him your greetings.' So I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said, 'You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.' ... Sahih Bukhari 5:58:227
Idris (Enoch) taught the sons of men the art of building cities, and enacted some admirable laws. He discovered the knowledge of the Zodiac, and the course of the Planets; and he pointed out to the sons of men, that they should worship God, that they should fast, that they should pray, that they should give alms,
The Book of Enoch was removed from the Bible and banned by the early church. Copies of it were found to have survived in Ethiopia, and fragments in Greece and Italy
